A Season in the CONGO

The Young Vic excelled its self with this performance directed by Joe Wright.  A sobering story of Congolese independence and freedom which I guess, in truth never really materialised. The singing and dancing was amazing and I would definitely recommend it. The cast were fantastic and the whole atmosphere was creative and emotive. There were toyshop army men attached to parachutes descending on us from up above at one point and for a brief time I felt like we escaped reality.  It was a great cultural introduction in to the struggles the Congolese people have faced. Some history books are now required to see what happened next…
